Art Basel 2021 was one of the first major international art exhibitions since 2019. The edition took place as a hybrid event between the 24th of September 2021 and 26th of September 2021. The event consisted of a face-to-face exhibition held at Messe Basel and a complementing digital platform, Art Basel Live. The digital platform allowed participating galleries to reach a broader audience and for visitors to attend virtually. The platform contained features such as Online Viewing rooms and Virtual walkthroughs The in-person aspect of the fair features strict COVID-19 prevention measures such as social distancing. The event was considered a success by organisers and participants. It received 60 000 visitors and 272 galleries from 33 countries. This included 24 new galleries from cities such as London, Buenos Aires, Hong Kong and others. High sales across all market levels and strong presentations were among the highlights of the event.
