!!! Important !!! The 2020 edition of Baselworld has been officially cancelled by the organisers due to coronavirus.
A Brief Look
Baselworld defines luxury and sophisticated taste within the luxury goods sector with a tight focus on the watch and jewellery industry. The international trade show has been the stage to keep a close eye to and a platform for powerful brands to reach a potential audience. The first edition dates back to 1973 and Messe Basel has been its home on annual basis ever since. Statistics for last year show that 135,000 visitors have made the trip and put in their orders. However, we have to make it clear that only a select crowd gets to exhibit – the reason why exhibitors were 650!
An Industry Profile
At first glance, it may appear as though Baselworld concerns itself with the finished products from finished jewellery pieces and watches to silverware and special occasion party items. This is a rather limited way to look at it, as some of the exhibitors pioneer manufacturing technologies and innovations across the entire value chain. The Managing Director of the fair, Michel Loris-Melikoff has promised that the event will undergo much-needed rejuvenation to liven up its old-fashioned platform and get it to step in with the times!
